My birth year and month, but I can't keep it! It's a beautiful and well-played 2-owner bass that's 100% original and weighs just 7 1/2 lbs with perfect balance. The body is dated 3/60 in pencil and the neck has no date which is quite typical for the period. But it's definitely original to the bass! The pots are dated 0960 and all the cloth wiring is original along with the black bottom pickup. Of course the bridge has the finer knurling that was phased out by 1962 and the Kluson tuners have the flattened rivet on one side, a feature also phased out starting in 1962. This bass is a player's dream and the blonde finish over the swamp ash body is visually appealing. The neck is nicely figured maple with a Brazilian rosewood slab fretboard and clay dots. There is a good degree of player wear on the entire bass but no major dings & no damage. The original owner 'experimented' with strap button positions on the back of the horn. One of the positions apparently worked because of the degree of strap and buckle wear in the vicinity. But those small holes were properly filled in long ago and are part of the story this bass has to tell. Besides, the vibe of this bass speaks much louder to a true player than some uber-clean piece of firewood might to a 'collector' or 'investor' (at a much higher price, of course). Original covers and early tortoise guard with no cracks or shrinkage. Includes solid original brown case.
